Daily Trust Foundation has donated essential items to Kuje Correctional Centre, to cushion the effects of Covid-19 global pandemic on prisoners. The foundation made donations to an orphanage also.

Daily Trust Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust titles, with headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. It is a non-profit organization involved in diverse social and support activities. They include capacity building for journalists, scholarships to enhance the girl-child education, support for orphanages, provision of materials to cushion the plight of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North East, provision of water to poverty-stricken rural communities, medical outreaches, and gifts in kind to vulnerable and disaster-affected communities.

The Programme Officer of the Foundation, Malam Immam Nma Shuaib, who led the delegation last Thursday, presented food items, beverages, and sanitary pads to the inmates of Kuje Correctional Centre and Abuja Children’s Home, in Karu, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

While presenting the items, Immam said, “On behalf of the board Chairman, Malam Wada Maida, and other members of the Board of Daily Trust Foundation, we present these items as our own contributions to cushion the effects of Covid-19 on the inmates in Correctional Centre. Covid-19 pandemic has affected most countries in the world, weakening the economy and affecting the living conditions of the people. We hope this gesture will go a long way to provide succor to the inmates in this Correctional Centre.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the Deputy Comptroller of the Correctional Centre, Godwin Ochepa, commended the Foundation as one that stands out among other media houses. He commended the management of Daily Trust Foundation for remembering those inmates at Kuje Correctional Centre.
