Media and journalism professionals can take advantage of an opportunity provided by the Daily Trust Foundation, under its Media Enterprise Lab project, to apply for a training in documentary filmmaking. The project is supported by MacArthur Foundation.
The Documentary Filmmaking training is for journalists who have a fundamental knowledge of video production and seek to acquire skills necessary for the production of short or long documentaries for radio, television, and digital platforms.
The training which will span a period of two months’ with breaks for practical fieldwork will take participants through the fundamentals of filmmaking, including generating story ideas, handling the camera effectively, controlling light and sound, and hands-on editing processes.
To be taken by facilitators who are experts in filmmaking, the training will be practical in nature, and participants will be introduced to modern tools for documentary filmmaking. It is geared towards impacting skills that would help participants to generate income from it.
